Research Paper Requirements

Due Dates: 

-  1st Draft Due Monday January  25  – Handed in online in your Blog – creating a new post.
-  Final Draft due Thursday, January 28  – Handed in online Blog –  Called “Research Paper”

Learning Target 
  -  Students will write a research paper based on a United States Thematic Essay or Global Essay.  
  -  Students will create and submit a bibliography 5 to 10 citations. (5 passing, 10 – 100)  
  -  Students will complete an outline for their research paper (see template). 
  -   Include  2- 10   in- text citations – quotes or paraphrase. 


Grading Checklist 
  -  All parts of the thematic essay question are answered  
  -  Make a connection to current events – news story – source can be online newspaper or nightly news cast.
  -  What concepts of government (liberty, justice, Good Government,  human nature) are illustrated by the events, people in your research paper: 
 -   Hand in all notes including citation summary sheets used to assist in your writing. 
-   Bibliography should go alphabetically by author , if no author, then the title. 
You must use at least one in-text citations from the U.S. History Textbook and / or Global History Textbook.

Classwork for Research Project – these will count as extra credit – classwork grades. 

 - Hand in your citation summary sheets (used for textbook sourcing, internet, etc)
 -  Any other notes / strategies used to develop your research paper. 
  

Some strategies to use to completed the research paper may the creation of a timeline, chart, bubble diagram, Venn Diagram all of which can assist in the brainstorming of ideas for your research paper) . 

You may include in your bibliography:


 1)  any of your news summaries and analysis completed in class. (using the news summary template

  2)   Any  citations that have been completed and posted in your online blog.

  3) Any class assignment such as Climate Change reading, After School App as source of information. 

  4) Any book or magazine from the library or at home can be used as well. 

5.   )  Sources can include photo, video even movie references etc.  

6.  To make a proper citation use  MS Word  as well citationmachine.net.
